On this day, Jan. 9th 1858, Anson Jones, that last president of The Republic of Texas, committed suicide.
Anson Jones, for those of you uneducated in the history of our great state, was the President that pursued annexation of Texas into the United States.
I personally could not see a better end to a critter like this….maybe drawn and quartered would have been my call. The damaged is done and I can only assume that the gravity of such an action laid on the soul of Mr. Jones until he could bear it no more. Can’t say I blame him
